FLOWER SCULPTURES
Nessas instalações, Liana Nigri pretendia testar a fragilidade das superfícies das flores usando suas carcaças para criar esculturas que lembram o público sobre o "memento mori". Transformando tristeza, luto e escuridão em beleza, ela atribui novos elementos, percepções e sensações à morte.
In these installations Liana Nigri intended to test the fragility of the flowers’ surfaces by using its carcasses to create sculptures that remind the audience of the ‘memento mori’. Transforming sadness, grief and darkness into beauty, she attributes new elements, perceptions and sensations to death.
Rare Species
Como continuação da série Flower Sculptures, Liana Nigri usa a ilustração botânica como ferramenta importante para registrar suas criações de novas espécies de flores híbridas, uma vez que essa estrutura frágil se desintegraria facilmente.
As a continuation of the Flower Sculptures series, Liana Nigri uses botanical illustration as an important tool to register her creation of hybrids flower species, since those fragile structure would easily fall apart.
Microscope Series
Através de fotografias de microscópio, Liana Nigri expõe as transições que acontecem no reino da flora, apresentando qualidades tais como radiance, suavidade e saturação que podem, de repente, tornar-se opaca, rígida e monótona. Este registo começa a partir de materiais orgânicos frescos e segue até murcharem, ao passo que a captura de cada passo é feita de forma minuciosa.
Through microscope photographs, Liana Nigri exposes the transitions happening on the realm of flora while showing how qualities like radiance, softness and saturation could suddenly turn opaque, rigid and dull. This registration starts from fresh organic materials and follows through the process of withering while capturing each step narrowly.
